Special Education Advisory Council
The Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) represents the parents of students of North Star Academy and Raleigh Academy who have physical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, social, and/or sensory disabilities that impact their educational experiences. The purpose of the SEAC is to work together with school faculty and staff to enhance the student’s school experiences. Together we work to strengthen and support the Special Education Department. Also, we work to provide disability awareness and learning opportunities for parents, students, and staff. We hope to help bridge the gap between the Special Education Department and the General Education Department to help the schools provide the best and most inclusive education deemed appropriate for each individual student.
Since forming in 2012, the SEAC has hosted a Sensory Friendly Open House, worked with administration to reserve paraprofessional recognition parking slots, as well as host several paraprofessional recognition activities. We provide a strong support network for parents working through the unique struggles of raising a child with special needs.
The SEAC meets at least annually. Please check the district calendar.
