AIPAC Welcome parents, grandparents, caregivers and community members with school-aged American Indian children. The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) invites and encourages you to join and attend AIPAC meetings.

Mission

The mission of the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) is to assist and advise the Duluth Edison Charter Schools, Board of Education, and administration on all matters pertaining to the successful educational experience of American Indian children.

The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) is a group of parents, grandparents, caregivers and community members of American Indian children. The committee serves as a vital link between American Indian community and Duluth Edison Charter Schools.

Purpose

Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.78 requires that all Minnesota school districts with 10 or more American Indian students have an American Indian Parent Committee. The committee serves in an advisory role to the school district. The Minnesota Department of Education provides technical assistance to districts and supports parent committees. The American Indian Education Committee of the Duluth Edison Charter Schools serves to ensure that the unique and culturally related academic needs of American Indian students are being met.

The Purpose of AIPAC:

– To afford parents the necessary information and opportunity to effectively express their views concerning all aspects of American Indian education and the educational needs of the American Indian children enrolled in the schools or programs.

– To review programs offered and develop recommendations in consultation with the curriculum advisory committee.

– To review policies and procedures in the district and submit to the School Board resolutions reflective of parent and community views of program offerings with applicable recommendations.
