Taher, Inc. is entering their third year with Duluth Edison Charter Schools, as our Food Service Management Company.
Taher’s Food4Life offers Chef-developed, made from scratch items, which are trans-fat free and contain healthy whole grains. We offer a self-serve fruits and vegetables bar as part of every meal with multiple choices available each day.
Our students are able to choose from two main entrée choices each day. Our corporate Chef Chris will periodically visit our schools to prepare special demonstrations and offer samples for all students.
New for the 19-20 school year:
- Taher will be partnering with local farmers to provide locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to provide to our students.
- We have worked with the school to create a Food Advisory Board that provides students and their parents a platform to be involved in menu planning.
- The food service department will meet with student groups and provide cooking demonstrations to students.
- Taher’s Food4Life downloadable app will provide instant access to the menus and all nutritional information of each menu offering for both breakfast and lunch each day.

Student Breakfast $1.50 (ALL KINDERGARTEN students receive FREE SCHOOL BREAKFAST)
Elementary Lunch (K-5) $2.85
Secondary Lunch (6-8) $2.90
Adult Breakfast $2.00
Adult Lunch $4.00
Payment for student meals are accepted in any school office. If you are writing a check please indicate your student’s name on the check. If you are writing one check for two or more students please indicate how you would like the payment divided. Checks will be divided equally if not otherwise noted. Please place all cash payments in a sealed envelope with your student’s name and “food service payment” on the envelope.
Online payments can be made through the Parent Portal. If you haven’t already signed up for access to the Portal please contact Carolyn Rich at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up your Parent Portal. Currently we are not able to accept credit/debit card payments for student meals at the schools or over the telephone.
Adult meals must be paid for at the time they are received in the cafeteria. We only accept credit/debit card payments for these meals and are to be paid for in the cafeteria.
If you have received an approval letter from the school, your child(ren) have qualified for free or reduced-price meals. Students who qualify for reduced-price meals will receive them at no charge thanks to recent Minnesota legislative action. Please note that extra milk purchases will be billed to your student’s account regardless of your eligibility.
You are encouraged to apply for these benefits any time during the school year when you have a decrease in income, become unemployed, or have an increase in household size. These benefits go into effect once your Application has been processed and are good for the remainder of the school year. A NEW APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE EACH NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
