Meals Available for Students In Need

Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast and lunch will be available to all of our students during each scheduled school day.

IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT IN PERSON AT SCHOOL:  As we did last spring, the food service department will have meals available for pick up at hub stops and for pick up at school.  If your household qualifies for free or reduced priced meals this year, we may be able to deliver meals to your home, if you are not able to pick up at a hub stop or at the school.  We will provide contactless meal delivery.  It is very important that you are home to receive these meals. Meals bundles will be delivered as needed on Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning.  If we know ahead of time, that you can’t be there to accept the meals we can make other arrangements as needed.  If you are picking up meals at a hub stop or at the school, please remain in your car and a staff person will come to you with your meals.

ON DAYS YOUR CHILD IS AT SCHOOL:  We will be providing breakfast and lunch at the building for all students present who wish to participate.  Students may also bring a lunch from home. These meals will be served in their classroom following MDH and MDE guidelines for social distancing.  Monthly menus will be available. Special dietary accommodations will be provided for those students who have the necessary paperwork on file with the food service department.

Who Can Receive Meals?

Only enrolled students at Raleigh or North Star will be able to receive meals from us.  If you have students in your household who attend another district, you will have to make arrangements to receive their meals with the school they attend.  If you are picking up meals for your child(ren) you will be asked to give your student’s name or another identifying comment to the staff member distributing the meals.

What Is the Cost for the Meals?

Students who qualify for free/reduced priced meals will receive these meals free of charge.  We encourage all households to complete the Application for Educational Benefits, even if you are doing distance learning exclusively. The application can be found HERE or from the menu on the left.

If you need one mailed to you please email Sue Lewis at sue.lewis@duluthedison.com

Completing the Application will help our schools obtain other grants and funding throughout the school year.  If you do not qualify for F/R meals, your child’s food service account will be charged for the meals that are delivered/picked up.  Breakfast is $1.50 and Lunch is $2.85 (K-5) and $2.90 (gr. 6-8).

If you would like school meals for your child on days they aren’t in school please complete the attached survey no later than Thursday, September 3, 2020.  Select breakfast or lunch or both for the days your child will NOT be in-person learning at school.  Meal pick up will be available at hub stops on Wednesday mornings.  Parents/guardians or their designee may pick up meal bundles at school on Wednesdays or Fridays.  Pick up will be available at Raleigh between 3:30 – 6:00 pm at the 59th Avenue doors. Meals can be picked up at North Star between 4:30 and 6:00 pm at the cafeteria doors.  Please select which day will work for you on the survey.   PLEASE NOTE:  If there is a non-instructional day for students on Friday, those meals will need to be picked up on Thursday that week.

What If I need to make a change?

If changes need to be made to your meal plan please email Sue Lewis at sue.lewis@duluthedison.com and allow up to 48 hours for the change to occur.  Email Sue with any other questions related to the food service program.
