STEP ONE:
Parent/guardian Education: Households will be educated on the signs and symptoms of COVID. Prevent the Spread of Covid-19 symptom information sheet will be sent home along with the DECS Student Daily Screening Tool 9/2/20. Each household is asked to assess their child daily prior to school. Parents/guardians sending students to school are attesting that their student is not experiencing COVID symptoms or have not had close contact to someone experiencing COVID symptoms.
STEP TWO:
As students enter the classroom, teachers are encouraged to do a visual check and ask a question like “How are you doing today?” or “How are you feeling today?” If a teacher or other staff member notes any signs of illness at any point in the day the student will be asked to go to the health office.
STEP THREE:
In the health office, health office staff will assess the student and reach out to the parent/guardian as needed. The Minnesota Department of Health Decision Tree will be followed. Decision Tree for People with COVID-19 Symptoms in Youth, Student, and Child Care Programs
