In this time of great uncertainty, one thing children and their families can count on is the availability of healthy school meals that ensure students are nourished and ready to learn. We are working to ensure every student has access to safe, nutritious school meals, whether students are attending class in-person, are using the hybrid model of learning or doing distance learning exclusively.
FREE MEALS AVAILABLE TO ALL CHILDREN:
Last Friday, Sept. 4 schools were notified USDA has extended a waiver to operate our food service program under the Summer Foods Service Program which provides free school meals to all children, 18 years and under. So, all of our students and any siblings at home, under 19, may receive free meals.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR FREE MEALS:
If you have already signed up to receive meals delivered to your home, or will be picking them up at school on Wednesdays, you do not need to do anything more. You have received an email from Sue Lewis over the weekend that verified you will receive meal bundles starting this Wednesday, Sept. 9.
If you would like to add any non-enrolled siblings to your deliveries/pickups, please email Sue Lewis at the email address listed below, do not use the survey to add these students. We start delivering those meal bundles on the following Wednesday. An email will be sent to confirm your request.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO SIGN UP FOR FREE MEALS:
You are still able to sign up for meal bundles to be picked up at school, or delivered to your home if you qualify for free/reduced-price meals. Please use the link below or from the menu on the left to sign up for meals.
APPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS:
We must collect and approve free/reduced-price meal applications for the purposes of compensatory revenue and when pivoting back to the regular meal program after the waiver expires on Dec. 31, 2020,or prior if funding is exhausted before that date. No matter what learning model you are participating in this year, we ask that you complete an application as soon as possible. Once we move back to the usual meal program, meals will be charged to students’ accounts if they don’t qualify for free/reduced meals.
If you have any questions about our food service department, please reach out to Sue Lewis at firstname.lastname@example.org at any time.
