From Our Head of School

Dear DECS Families,

I  hope you are finding ways to stay busy and safe during this time of uncertainty.  I am writing to provide an update as to our anticipated next steps at this time.

Our teachers, administrators and other staff are hard at work designing a distance learning plan for our students to begin on Monday, March 30.  If implemented, this means teachers across Minnesota would be teaching students in ways other than in a building.

During this week, you will be hearing from your student’s principal and  classroom or home base teacher about this plan. We know there will be a learning curve and some bumps on this journey so we ask for your patience and understanding as this program unfolds.

If you responded to our technology survey letting us know if your K-5 student needed a chromebook, we plan to distribute these at our meal distribution locations on Thursday and Friday.  Additional information on that will be sent out on Wednesday.

In many ways, we are taking this one day at a time as our state and federal officials provide guidance on our next steps.  Please know their decisions could impact our plans. If that occurs, we will communicate with you via email.

Thank you,

Bonnie Jorgenson, Head of School
